I am a rather anxious person + have a naturally twitchy demeanor + a tendency to grimace and people frequently assume that I'm constantly on the verge of a panic attack when I'm like... just sort of nervous? Or a bit alert? It's gotten to a point where people treating me as anxious is more -

I've been thinking about it for a while! Have you found any good articles since you posted this? I have a few academic articles on that, but nothing I'd consider "really good"

Once in 8th grade, I heard a classmate say in a snotty voice to another one "Oh, me? I only listen to British experimental bands!" and I was really excited about not being the only one, only to realize ten years later that he was definitely imitating me

Yes, I think ADHD and autism are both overrepresented in certain industries, while at the same time the autism/ADHD people who work in these industries are not representative of their diagnostic cohorts (because they, by definition, work in an industry i.e. can get employment)
