What could go wrong?
Almost every major news story this week is about how the entire economy is now gambling, scams, bribes and theft.

It’s a cool dataset folks.

Alberta is banning The Handmaid’s Tale in schools.
Well, the list of books being banned from EPSB is appalling. And it's very likely that an author on this list will get their other works pulled too, especially in the absence of teacher librarians.

There are books on this list that changed my life. This is what the UCP is taking away from kids.

The government is seriously dropping the ball on how insurance operates here. And no the no fault thing won’t cure anything, a small bandaid at best.
The latest inflation data for car & home insurance, by province.

Alberta absolutely in a league of its own here.

Didn’t know Premier Smith was also doing stand-up at this thing…

Premier Smith welcomes everyone. She says Edmonton is a consequential part of Alberta, as important parts of the energy sector and other sectors are located here. "When Edmonton speaks, we listen." Some people laugh in response.

I’ve been an advocate for this approach for awhile. While leaving the CPP is a dumb idea, developing a made in Alberta pension that can be used to fill a gap for those who either aren’t covered by a DC/DB employment plan, or people who would want in addition to those instruments is a healthy idea
Delaina Mclane from Delfast has a background in financial services. She says we shouldn't leave the CPP but have a pension fund in addition to the CPP. She says additional tax brackets and increasing tax rates would address wealth inequality.

All I'm saying is, if you actually ask somebody with a PhD a question about their area of expertise, the response you get will be pretty much exactly the opposite of the experience of using ChatGPT.
"PhD-level experts in your back pocket" is a completely nonsensical description of AI but a pretty good description of social media if you follow the right people

Populist politicians love to bash bureaucrats.

But does this actually erode public trust in the public service in Canada?

Short answer: Yes.

My wife’s grandpa has received an unfortunate cancer diagnosis. While his wife grieves and muddles along, they are receiving unsolicited advice from a family member who…surprise..surprise…is recommending ivermectin on the advice of William Makis in Alberta.

The damage this man spreads is appalling

Hey #abpoli #ableg

Separatism is *again* making the rounds in the news. But how much support is there for the idea really? And what about joining the U.S.?

Below is a teaser for some further analysis coming later this summer.

You will find the answer to the above is “not much”.
