Thinking back to the good old days of 2024 when NIH was where families like mine went for the best care in the world. Gift article.
NIH scientists have a cancer breakthrough. Layoffs are delaying it.
A big step forward in cancer therapy has been slowed by layoffs and new restrictions at the National Institutes of Health, where it was developed.

As someone who received care at NIH, this is mind boggling and infuriating. Having NIH behind me gave me confidence I was getting the very best care possible. To turn one of the few reassuring things there are for the very sickest among us into something that's now uncertain is an act of cruelty.
A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.

As we argued to investors about our members' pension funds, Elon Musk is acting like an angry toddler on the internet instead of protecting Tesla shareholders. This behavior wouldn't even fly in our classrooms, so it shouldn’t fly for billionaires running our government.

The world's richest person is targeting me & other teachers because we are fighting for vital federal education programs that help families & students. They attack because they want tax cuts for the rich. Stop taking money from poor kids & kids with disabilities.

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

(Bringing back a 2018 Twitter hit): Keeping honey bees to save the bees is like keeping chickens to save the birds. They're a managed species and not at risk of extinction. The bees at risk of extinction are wild species.

Ants often act like inefficient goofballs. They got lost, accidentally drop their good and walk in circles trying to find it but eventually give up and go home, half of the ants in a nest just sit there 24/7 and do absolutely nothing.

A lot of people in positions of power got their promotions because they were behaving badly.

In sexual harassment cases, institutions use promotions as a way to retain the perpetrator and separate them from their primary victim.
