It’s pushed so heavily by the media in UK that it effectively does become a significant issue for *some* people, but you’re right of course that it’s mixed in with a lot of competing priorities - and a general malaise with established politics.

Newsflash; just because immigration is topical in the UK, doesn’t mean Danish politics is as obsessed over it the same way.

It also ignores a key difference - Denmark has a very high trust society (both for institutions and with each other). The UK has low levels of trust in its institutions. That has a significant impact on how political debates manifest.

The point about the BBC is correct, ofc. The media loves an overly simple line to report, despite the real story being far more nuanced and complex.

Anyone who thinks adopting a Danish-like asylum policy in the UK will result in the same political effect (ie; Reform declining similar to Dansk Folkeparti), clearly has no awareness of the far more fundamental differences of Danish & UK political/societal/economic pictures.
