The main Danish tv channel DR1 has through-the-day, non-stop coverage of *voting* in the *local* elections, followed by results coverage this evening. Quite something.

"A signal is also being sent outside Norway… that it is possible for social democracy to win elections even when the right-wing is on the rise"

In an era when incumbents, we’re told, can’t get re-elected, Støre has proven different.

It’s victory for the red-green majority parties!

Jonas Gahr Støre - who less than a year ago looked heading for crushing defeat - will now almost certainly remain as Prime Minister. A huge turnaround in a milestone election - and did so despite a surge for the populist-right FrP.

First projection with the polls closed - the Red-green majority holds with 70% of the votes counted #Valg25

Including this; that the population of Longyearbyen were, mostly, evacuated to Scotland during WW2 - nearly 800 people.

So much for the faster passport control which Starmer promised. No access to the e-gates here at Gardemoen.

It’s not all free from controversy; Lynetteholm will be a man-made peninsula which aims to tackle 3 main challenges - climate/flood protection, housing shortage, & space for infrastructure. Space for 20k homes, with 1/4 public housing. But there’s been some resistance due to greenwashing concerns.

I was at Lianvatnet last summer. Just a short hop on the tram, up the hills to the west of the city, it’s a wonderful nature spot.

As a the War Sailor Museum, it does a really excellent job and with engaging exhibits. The ship is only at Edinburgh up to Thursday, with free entrance, so highly recommend seeing this unique piece of history.

Well worth visit today on board the D/S Hestmanden, currently at Edinburgh as part of the historic Liberation Convoy to Scotland marking 80 years of VE.

The ship survived both world wars and is the last remaining of the Nortraship fleet. It was converted to a museum ship residing at Kristiansand.

What is preventing Starmer from making this same message as from the Danish PM?

When I was in Finland last month, I happened to meet these lovely people from the Finnish Greens in (bit randomly) the woods of Nuuksio National Park, with a basket of cinnamon buns filming a campaign video.

Really pleasant day out, don’t even need a jacket for walking - which feels weird for March! 🌲 🌞

First exit poll in the German elections. CDU/CSU win a comfortable lead. Together with SPD, they would have the seats to form a govt without need for a third party and retain the firewall.
