In February 2023, I packed up a bag and a carry on, and left Berlin, where I lived for 6.5 years.

I’ve been nomading ever since, looking for a new place to call home.

While on the road, I’m also growing my marketing consultancy business and talk about & eat pasta.

Follow along for the journey?
It's 5 a.m., I’m on a plane, and just remembered this post. I still stand by it. Already can't wait for my good night sleep tonight.
I joined the 5 am club this morning (I’m traveling today), and it made me realize - I currently have no desire whatsoever to join this club permanently. Never say never, but I can’t see it happening for me, and have always preferred the quiet hours of the night.

The Louvre heist a few days ago reminded me of the best heist song released in 2025.

Enjoy:

Think of the biggest/most well-known Email Service Provider out there.

Got a name in mind?

Good. There’s 1 in 3 chance that it’s my client’s ESP.

And let me tell you, it’s the most horrendous, slow, limited ESP in the market. It’s beyond me how they’re still in business.

What today looks like at Ethical Emails' HQ:

- Cleaning a list of one client
- Going over materials my new VA created
- Preparing a document of Q4 tactical changes for another client
- Writing a *beast* of a document with email briefs for client team no. 3

I'll need A LOT of sleep tonight.

Officially the most important notification I’ll receive today

Life is a delicate art of balancing:

Today, I hired a VA to help me with stuff I can't manage getting to, and for the first time in weeks, I feel like I can breathe.

I also made pasta for dinner that turned out so damn salty - I almost passed out when I took the first bite.

See? Balance.

One of my clients is calling me "The Yuval".

I totally the love it.

In Q4, one of my clients is about to send sales emails for a segment… of one.

In theory, it’s a terrible idea.

Why would your team work so hard on creating multiple broadcasts to exactly one reader, when there are dozens of thousands of other subscribers to pay attention to?

I've absolutely had it with lazy cold outreach in my inbox this week.

If your AI tool is so great, it might as well target prospects better to begin with.

For the love of pasta, do better.

I went into my calendar scheduling system today and slashed my availability.

I counted more than 50 meetings in September. 15 this week alone.

Even though every meeting is helpful and even delightful, I'm fried,

If that's what I must do to set better boundaries, so be it.

This year, I'm paying extra close attention to working with my body instead of against it.

Which means working at 10 pm for a couple of hours sometimes, if my brain feels more "on it" than at 10 am.

I'm still learning. But at least in terms of productivity, it's proving itself.

The good news is, I got to inbox zero this morning.

The bad news is, it won't stay like that for long.

Currently toying with the idea of changing my email's sign off to "boiling regards" or "freezing regards", depending on the season.

So I got an offer today to become a fractional CMO of a consulting company. I thanked them and turned down the offer (gently but firmly), because it's not something I'm pursuing at the moment, but wow, this year doesn't seize to surprise me!

How to spot a marketer in the wild #489:

Me entering a store: “Excuse me, where do you have long-form socks?”

Guess who's got two thumbs and wrote no less than 3 newsletters today (between client work)?

Ahh, Europe! It's only been 2 weeks, but I missed you terribly!

Prospects' feedback is invaluable. There I was, thinking that my packages and pricing are clear and easy to find - and I just got a message from someone who inquired about my services who said otherwise. Going to ask a few questions to make sure it's more straightforward!

My client: "We want to grow our list with relevant people that we meet in person."

Me: "Then your team members need to become *agents of traffic* and start mentioning your email list in their conversations."

And that's a new #YuvalPhrase for ya.

It's so nice to wake up to the news that one of my clients is well on their way to seeing a 6x ROI for hiring me as their email consultant in Q3.

I find it really funny when I see deliverability companys' emails landing in my spam folder. The irony!

What are we all using as a Loom alternative? Major bonus points if they are purpose-driven/values-led.
August 8, 2025 at 10:06 AM
The real question isn't "what are better stats to look at if email open rates aren't reliable?".

It's - "What is the impact on your marketing performance when you take email out of it?"

For the consulting clients I onboarded in Q2, we're talking multiple 6 figures in the past quarter alone.

Just wrote an email guidelines document for one of my clients and came across a really good email that I wrote about half a year ago and didn't send out.

It's not something that I can send now, because it was somewhat time-sensitive, but it did make me go "damn, that's a job well done".
