Same thing. Fucking idiot doesn’t understand how it works and they still trusted him to call a vote to save the program.

Third, fuckin Ben Foster. God damnit how do you do it? Fucking hell man. You change your eyes and it’s incredible every time.

Fourth, good god Jesus this movie looks beautiful. David and his DP DELIVERED.

I’m excited to sit and enjoy this and I think you all should too.

And here’s it MOSTLY back together. The silver in middle is the fuel bowl where the filter sits and there’s pressure regulators and sensors attached all around it. Hoses are back on the turbo, that’s now on the left side..wish me luck. Gonna hook the battery and see how it does.

Here’s the empty upper fuel setup. The yellow is the turbo compressor outlet (top one) and the intake were the pressurized air goes into the block. I had a leak at the upper so let’s see if I fixed it. Blue is the mechanical fuel pump, thankfully didn’t need to touch it. Red is the fuel line.

Anyway, I’m now making a go at a few pairs of various sizes and getting reminded how much of a bitch this canvas is to sew!

Here’s a sample of my current pocket design…

Made these puppies a few months ago and put them through the paces, tested out what wearing 22oz duck canvas pants feels like. Nobody else is crazy enough to make pants with canvas this thick, so I had to see if it was viable. IT IS!
Here they are in their current state.

Rivets are in! The buttons are also technically rivets as they have two steel prongs that you force through the back and then bend over to lock the button on. I’m gonna clean my vulgar areas before I try them on, but fit test pics incoming.

Watched a lions share of the YouTube videos available on how to hand sew a denim buttonhole. I have my progression. One video said 100 buttonholes should be done before you work on a clothing item, but I think his standards are just higher than mine. I will say I’m excited to get better at this.

I also think I’m gonna do a specific X cross belt loop in the center back. I’ve seen it on some historic denim that I really like, but there’s a specific way to fold it that I need to learn, and figure out how long the strips need to be..

It’s moving forward. Yesterday was full of trial and error. Last night I laid in bed (who are we kidding it was the couch) and tried to figure out why it wasn’t working, and came up with a plan. This morning I put the plan to test and it fricken worked. Moving forward!

I wanna throw a chain stitch on all my serged fabric edges. Yes, it will add a step when it’s needed, but it looks fricken pretty and I’ve not seen any company do it. Serves no purpose but the look, but it looks GOOD. Took forever and a day to get this machine running right and I FINALLY DID!

I’m using dead stock Wrangler denim from the Mount Vernon GA mill. Which incidentally is the only large scale denim factory in America currently. I wanna go take a tour but that’s for another thread. NO PUN INTENDED
This denim has a distinct “W” in the warp thread that is pretty cute..

Here are the parts that make a pair of jeans, and a solid majority of pants you wear.
Two mirrored front legs, back legs, back pockets, yokes, front pocket facings and front pocket bags (the black linen).
One small coin pocket
Three pieces for button fly
Belt loops.
I’ll cut the waistband later..

This is the double needle chain stitcher with the seam folder attachment. (That’s the chrome thingy on the front)
It’s a custom made union special dated somewhere around 1950. Runs good! Runs real good.
October 16, 2025 at 10:55 PM
I need to figure out why the bottom layer of fabric is getting pulled through faster than the top so that I can line up my yoke seams better but after, no joke, 10 attempts I finally got this close. These seams are the result of my double needle chain stitcher…

Super successful sewing adventure complete.

Made a cute as fuck little hand stitched tag too.

I’m waiting for the sky blue (his middle name is Blue) snaps I ordered to land. It’s either gonna be those, glossy black, or pearl white. The pearl has both silver and brass as trim choice. I’ll share the full finished product next week!

I made my grandson a rodeo clown (the real ones that are fucking wild as a boar and battling serious drinking problems, those clowns. You know, the ones the cowboys are afraid of?) suit for his first birthday.

Here’s the guts of this brilliant machine. Today I am gonna get it mounted on its table and connected to a motor. It’s gonna take a little carpentry because I want this machine to have a very small footprint in the shop. It does one job at the very end of assembly, it only needs a tiny station.
October 1, 2025 at 12:13 PM
ITS ALIVE!!
Oh my god it sews beautifully. This is called a chainstitch, and this specific machine (union special 43200g) was used primarily for hemming denim in the 1940-about the 70s? It has a flaw in the design that causes the denim to fade in a roped pattern and it only happens on THIS machine.
