l invite you to celebrate a true Christian Christmas, one that does not consist in banquets or drunkenness or an exchange of meaningless gifts, but that truly reaches the destitution of our poor people —St Oscar Romero, 2nd Sunday of Advent (A), 1977 #StOscarRomero

There is a certain comfort in hopelessness. It allows us to guard our hearts from being wounded again. The gospel calls us to the dangerous work of believing that God might indeed be active in our world that in the midst of so much darkness there is still space for light.

I used to stay out of euthanasia debates because I wanted to listen well and allow for the possibility of ending unnecessary suffering in old age.

I know speak up against euthanasia because however the policy is written, weve seen it unnecessarily target poor and/or disabled people for early death.
