Dad in Georgia. Bi, nb, married to a wonderful woman. Big fan of ttrpgs, Star Trek, and nerdery
Someone on here posted an article from a 2010 People Magazine article the other day that was better sourced and better written than anything in the NYT or WaPo in the last decade.

No offense to People writers, but there was a time when that just wouldn’t have been the case.

So we’re in the post-mass media era now, huh?

And we shouldn’t forget the time the NYPD Sergeants Union doxxed Chiara de Blasio.

NYPD Sergeants Union Tweets Private Details of Mayor de Blasio's Daughter
"How can the NYPD protect the city of NY from rioting anarchist when the Mayors object throwing daughter is one of them," the Sergeants Benevolent Association wrote on social media on Sunday.

This headline is goofy but Trump having multiple annual doctor visits is not suspicious for a man his age or for anyone with chronic medical conditions.

Fine, but we WILL be leaving a copy of the caricature in the bylaws committee meeting’s minutes!

Careful. Augustus Caesar might haunt you for starting that petition

I think one difference is that MTG is being literal rather than metaphorical

Not only that but when was the last time we allowed Chad Kroeger to show his face in public?

Not to mention Fred Durst. Until he was in I Saw the TV Glow, I didn’t think we’d ever hear from him again.

Large investments in public housing.

This article is not pointing out government overreach or promoting causes for the left. This goes back to something @jysexton.bsky.social said other day: “It’s capitalists against the rest of us.”

It’s been repulsive how The NY Times has been fearmongering around Mamdani, but to then take the extra step to smear Portland as a means of doing it while that city is facing a fascist invasion is another thing entirely.

I hope people are starting to see it’s the capitalists versus the rest of us.

The article itself says that the average disability payout is $25k/year, and the article estimates that the VA could save $3.3 billion/year or 1.7% of what it spends on disability benefits if it ended payments for 7 diseases it calls “ordinary.”

The fact of the matter is in the United States, we don’t provide good end of life care to people who can’t afford it, and the VA is often used as a stop gap to allow people to get medical care they otherwise couldn’t afford.

People being charged for fraud aren’t evidence that fraud isn’t caught.

Is that quote implying people shouldn’t be treated for hypertension?
October 6, 2025 at 4:31 PM
“Instead of cutting back, lawmakers and VA have expanded eligibility for some everyday afflictions. For instance, the 2022 Pact Act made it far easier for veterans to claim compensation for hypertensive vascular disease, which can be a consequence of unmanaged high blood pressure.”
