i am working on a software-rendered 3D game for MS-DOS! again! this time i am using the Plush software renderer (from Nullsoft Inc.) as a base and using Quake 3 BSP files to store level geometry.

seems like i'll be targeting Pentium 133 territory, maybe higher, depends on how well i can optimize...

did you know? the FTEQW Quake engine has a 20 year old X11 server plugin allowing it to host X applications and render the results to a shader. the more you know! 🌈

spent the last few days implementing a cinematic camera path node editor in the FTEQW (Quake) engine! hopefully this will turn out easier to use than setting up the nodes manually in TrenchBroom :P #gamedev #quake #fteqw

went and added the VGA text-mode end screens to my SDL3 Quake sourceport.

it's optional, but a fun detail that most people playing Quake these days forget.
