GGrandad wrote Davies as a sort of mirror to himself. He was very much Davies in personality and zest for adventure. ROTS was written largely between 1901-1902, published in the summer of 1903. It was edited by Erskine's sister.

enveloped him, and in some ways also took his childhood away from him. He never really had a chance at other paths.

He would’ve been absolutely humbled at the idea that his beloved Irish govt and his alma mater would be naming a Professorship after him. Such an honour.
