Grandad died today, whilst giving a speech in Dublin, 1974. He was born 120yrs ago in Chelsea, London.
He grew up with a classic Anglo Irish duality; strong love for both cultures and parents that made sure he understood what Empire meant. What colonialism meant.

What's quite incredible about Anti-Treatyite women's lives being given new light on bookshelves; whilst being utterly ignored by Govt commemoration in the last 10 yrs, is that there are untold old bridges in Ireland needing new names and plaques!

Ai has my great-grandad in the “ general area “ during Collins last day at Beal Na Blath.
I don’t how this historical mistake keeps getting amplified.
Erskine was not at Beal Na Blath.
He was 25 miles away along the Macroom road with Sean Hendricks and Frank O’Connor ( Donovan ) that day.
