Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it transform the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better.

Just an hour ago I learned that my great-grandfather was 48 years old when my grandfather was born and that my great-grandmother was his second wife (not that he was divorced or widowed or anything). Not shockingly interesting but it is hot off the presses for me

As I put it a few years ago in my blunt advice to Irish cities, “Your goal SHOULDN’T be to replace a million fossil fuel vehicles with a million electric vehicles. It should be to replace a million fossil fuel vehicles with 250,000 electric vehicles. The main answer MUST be FEWER cars driven LESS."
