i would argue that when politicians consistently fail the electorate (again, who broadly support policies their politicians fail to represent them on) they have made things worse.

“the lesser evil” is a political argument with diminishing returns, which accrues apathy and cynicism as interest.

when broadly surveyed across demographics and from coast to coast, democratic voters consistently and overwhelmingly support populist positions like medicare for all and not supporting the genocide in gaza. and yet, the politicians in office continue to disappoint on these issues. that kills votes.

but the 6 million voters dems lost in 2024 from 2020 who, when polled, gave those as their tops reasons ARE a significant enough portion of the electorate, considering it’s nearing 10% of dem voters and more than enough to have swung this election the other way

“the electorate” did not like doubling down on genocide and saying “shut up the economy is great, look at the stock market!”

the electorate didn’t like chasing a “center” moving ever-rightward to chase illusory independents instead of broadly popular policies that give them something to vote FOR

good to know the democratic party can’t be counted on if its sole election strategy yet again happens to be completely disregarding the electorate and using guilt in lieu of a plan or platform again in 28
