Both top stories on Reddit Politics are of Fetterman and AOC fighting for Sarah McBride over the capitol trans bathroom ban.

McBride at least appears to be eliciting sympathy, partly due to how viciously cruel Mace had come off as with her recent “|she| dare consider herself my equal” stuff.

Throw in some traditionally presenting cis men and women just for fun.

Enforcement of bathroom bans never works because, believe it or not, gender is a spectrum and you can’t always tell who is trans, and people like Mace get it wrong so often.

Imagine if we just had a ton of really queer people, butch dykes, trans men and women, etc queue up to use the bathroom outside of Nancy Mace’s office and make them tell us which one we are allowed to use.

Absolute gender fuckery.

I'm finding my stories are reaching far more people who have never encountered my work than ever on Twitter.

I'm firmly convinced in the last year or so, twitter has kept my content (and most people's), gated to a small subsection of the site, rarely reaching those not already aware.

Twitter has become the equivalent of the youtube comment section, 8 chan, Stormfront, and bot spam all mashed together in a single user experience.

It is no longer fit for purpose.

This site feels so much more diverse, only because you're talking to real people.

"Bluesky is an echo chamber" give me a break.

Twitter has itself been an echo chamber for some time.

Far-right harassment, algorithmic deprioritization, and bots have made it useless for reasonable discourse.

I've found far better, engaging discussion here than I have at Twitter for years.

Same. The signal to noise ratio is infinitely higher than twitter. It's becoming a journalist paradise, which is going to be huge for the platform.

If a significant number of journalists move from Twitter to Bluesky as their primary posting spot, that signal to noise ratio will drop further on Twitter. Meanwhile, people will likely flock here in even larger numbers as major stories are broken here.

Many others are saying it, but it is becoming apparent that Bluesky is the new journalist's paradise.

The signal to noise ratio is extremely high. Far fewer trolls, bots, and hate speech/junk content to deal with.

I am finding major news tips every hour.

It bodes well for Bluesky's future.

8. It remains unclear whether the bill has the votes to clear both chambers. While similar measures targeting trans people passed along party lines in the House, only to die in the Senate, people are watching the dynamics now that Republicans control both. Dems must keep a unified front to stop it.

1. On Wednesday, Nancy Mace announced a federal bathroom ban proposal.

If it becomes law, it will impact major DC airports like Reagan and Dulles, and could snarl travel in the leadup to world pride, which is expecting over 3,000,000 LGBTQ+ visitors.

Nancy Mace's Federal Trans Bathroom Ban Would Apply To Major Airports, Hindering Travel
Congresswoman Nancy Mace, who has targeted Congresswoman Sarah McBride with a bathroom ban in the capitol, is now pushing a sweeping federal bathroom ban for trans people.

Actually, Meghan, trans people have been using the bathroom for decades. In fact in 2016, the last time Republicans engaged in bathroom panic, people freaked out because trans men went into women's restrooms and suddenly, people discovered that there were way more trans people than they thought.

PSA for all my new readers: Over the next several months, I will be reporting about a lot of bills and moves Republicans are making to target trans people.

Every year, a small subsection of people accuse me of “fear mongering” around this time.

I think that’s shortsighted. Let’s talk.

This is entirely true. A lot of the high value posters have moved here, people who intelligently discuss important topics, report on news that major media outlets are often so slow on, and whats more... the trolls, hate comments, and slurs are a tiny fraction of what they are on Elon's twitter.
Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.
