One problem that plagues most American churches is they use a collection of documents written 2,000+ years ago in multiple ancient languages as a 21st century English how-to guide by quoting tiny snippets instead of asking what the narrative, historical, and social context of those words might be.
Considering how strongly the Bible is anti-wealth, pro-immigrant, anti-power, pro-empathy, and very socialist, it’s curious just how many self-identifying “Christians” stand in opposition to that.
