Reminds me of this figure I made back over the summer. Some day Stanford will need to acknowledge the outsized role our campus has played in the promotion of pseudoscience & anti-science bias.

No disrespect to my home county of Bucks, but the SF Bay Area is clearly the “epicenter” of MAHA - if any place could claim that unenviable title.

I haven't seen any news stories about this until it showed up on Reddit tonight.
This photo was reportedly taken in the Oval Office on Oct 21. Person holding the folder is James Blair, Trump's deputy chief of staff.
Paper on top appears to be a plan for regime change in Columbia.

This is from the genius who repeatedly pronounced AI as "A one"...at an annual conference on education and AI.
Thanks Linda, but California doesn't need to model its educational standards after Alabama.

This sounds a little reminiscent of Saddam Hussein’s Ba”ath Party purge, when those in the highest levels of govt and military who were seen as disloyal were very publicly arrested and some executed.

This is an apparently serious & official tweet from the Dept of Energy.
It's one thing for our leaders to be corrupt.
And one thing for them to be stupid.
But to be corrupt and this stupid at the same time is farcical. Future generations will not believe this period of history really happened.

Hey @cnn.com, this is *not* a "crime crackdown"!
It's an unlawful military takeover.
Don't let fascists define the framing of this moment.

For an upcoming video, I threw together this graphic meant to illustrate some of the relationships between influential COVID-era medical contrarians (focusing on academic med professionals), and the COVID contrarian to MAHA pipeline.

MAGA's great dilemma.
I was messing w Open Evidence (i.e. chatbot designed for medical contexts & able to accurately cite specific lit).
I presented a hypothetical case of MRSA bacteremia, and proceeded to see how low a prob of endocarditis would still warrant 6 weeks of abx.
I think my job is safe for a little while.

When you hear Trump and Vance talk about how successful yesterday's bombing of Iran was, remember this moment from 2003. Despite the "Mission Accomplished" banner and upbeat speech, the Iraq War dragged on for another 8 years and killed 1000s of Americans.

I can't help but fear we are going to wake up tomorrow to find ourselves engaged in yet another ill-conceived war in the Middle East.

People might miss this if they are only exposed to right wing media.
There was no problem in California until Trump, Steve Miller, and ICE director Homan decided to stir shit up.
This was deliberate provocation from the start.
Hopefully the courts will rule Trump's actions on this to be illegal.

As someone who has studied and spoken on ChatGPT in med ed and clinical medicine, here's a concise list of my concerns about generative AI.
I'm certainly not opposed to every single use case. But I do honestly and without exaggeration believe that gen AI will prove to be a net negative for society.

Mandrola must have been really furious at Vinay Prasad and Jay Bhattacharya during the COVID pandemic!
Lol.
He actually didn't care at all when it was them straying out of their area of expertise to opine nonstop about policy for 5 years and counting.

Started watching season 2 of #Andor. Season 1's depiction of the common people's fight against fascism was already surprisingly topical, but S2 is even more so.
Creating a fictional world whose brutalities mirror those in our own can be just as helpful to change minds as sharing the actual news.
