Award-winning TV writer (Star Trek: Discovery) and wanna-be director. Making everything else up as I go.

Judge my taste on Letterboxd: ericjrobbins
Let's hope we get to see him pay homage to Sideshow Bob's next line.

It's in the sequel -- "The Order of the Black Eagle"

That would be my guess. They talked a lot about bottle episodes or "bottling up the action," especially in early TNG interviews.

I'm jealous of your copy of "The Making of Star Trek" -- it's in significantly better shape than mine! Though the previous owner kindly answered the teaser question.

He'd also be sympathetic to the excuse of "locker room talk," though I doubt he'd be keen on the actual language that phrase is synonymous with.

"You know how it is, a bunch of men together, sometimes things get a little crass..." Then a look to Niles in his squash garb, who gasps, "A little?!"

Absolutely incredible screening tonight at the Egyptian. @amcinematheque.bsky.social and @beyondfest.bsky.social blew the doors off with the 4K restoration of “Hard Boiled”, followed by a Q&A with the legend himself, John Woo, who regaled us with stories of nearly blowing up Chow Yun-fat.

It's wild for anyone to assert that STIII is the end of that shipping when half of The Voyage Home is them settling back into friendly bickering like an old married couple.

"You guys like Italian?" "No." "Yes." "No." "Yes, I love Italian... and so do you." "...Yes."

Good use of a Sunday.

Few things bring me greater joy than seeing a movie I love at the theater. Especially when that theater is the Egyptian.

We see it in only a few episodes, but it's actually mentioned in the S1 series bible to show how different TNG is from the TOS era.

In "Yesterday's Enterprise" Guinan notes the lack of children as being part of what's wrong with the timeline. Alt-Picard is shocked by the idea of families on board

Personally, I've always wanted to see how the school / counseling team handles the stress on the children and other family members.

It can't be easy living on a ship that draws the ire of god-like aliens, the Borg, or random anomalies that cause crew members to fatally phase through the floor.

It's the 39th anniversary of the release one of my favorite films -- "Aliens"

I watched it so many times as a child I wore out the VHS and see it almost every year in a theater (an advantage of living in LA)

Very excited to see it in 70mm again next week, thanks to the @amcinematheque.bsky.social.

It was just a power strip with individual switches. The back of it was a row of outlets labeled with the corresponding switch names.

The section in his memoir about writing the film is so fucking good. It was just as much a rollercoaster as one would expect looking at the finished product.

"The Art of the B-Movie Poster" has the perfect anecdote / write-up on Russ Meyer:

It’s the 50th anniversary of the release of “Jaws”. Like so many others, it had a massive influence on me and inspired me to pursue film and TV professionally.

It’s truly an incredible film that deftly balances adventure, horror, and humor.

For a franchise that began as a knock-off of "Halloween" and quickly ramped up to become a factory to take advantage of the first film's massive popularity and profit margins (8 films were released within a decade,) I've largely enjoyed my time at Camp Crystal Lake.

Since then, we haven't missed a Friday the 13th without watching the next film. Tonight we finish our run with "Friday the 13th" (2009), the reboot by Platinum Dunes.

(This experiment also forced us to marathon the largely superior "Nightmare on Elm Street" films before "Freddy vs Jason")

Tonight marks the end of a multi-year experiment. My wife and I have been watching the "Friday the 13th" franchise, but only on Fridays falling on the 13th.

We initially watched the first film on Friday, October 13th, 2017, but began the project in earnest in September 2019 with Part 2.

Is it even legal to post this much about “Witchtrap” without acknowledging this important legal notice?
