There is nothing at all about A-pillar visibility (or mirror patches) in federal car safety rules.

With cars getting bigger and blind spots expanding, that seems like a serious oversight.
Why Did Cars Get So Hard to See Out Of?
If it seems like forward visibility has gotten worse, you’re right: Since the 1990s, cars and trucks have grown bigger A-pillars that can create dangerous blind spots.

That smile when you hit your 50th new ride for your 50th year at the top of Destroying Angel, part of the Copper City trail system outside Three Forks, Montana. Huge views from up here. I counted seven different mountain ranges (but there could be more.)

“We’ve seen crashes before,” Jax said. “If I remember right, you had one yourself. Didn’t phase you. You were back racing the next week, proving you’re steel out on the streets.”

Same trip, I dropped the bikepacking bags and hit a fun trail just south of Bozeman. Big views, ripping descent.

A few weeks ago, before the snow-line crept too low, a friend and I met in Bozeman for a bikepacking overnight. Cold, but beautiful.

A friend took me on a route that I’d never been on pretty close to home. Missoula just has so many great rides, it’s hard to know them all. Here’s a few pics from another 50 for 50. Beautiful sunset on golden fall foliage.

The sometimes smooth, sometimes rip the bar out of your hands chunky eastern Montana gravel riding definitely takes its toll on your bike.

Big day riding eastern Montana farm roads. Another 50 for 50 ride wandering Carbon County.

Also, that last line. So, so B-town. Why use an incinerator when you could just throw bricks of meth out on some ranch bonfire? If only the feds weren’t so by-the-book.
