My kid did as well!
The parents of kids in the original pediatric Covid vaccine trials care more about scientific integrity than the people leading our scientific agencies.
Unbelievable. And maddening.

RFK Jr. says we should be a “colorblind” country.
That’s not a thing.

Health disparities by race are REAL: cancer, maternal mortality, COVID hospitalizations… Black, Hispanic, Native communities bear the brunt.

“Colorblindness” is lazy and dangerous racism.

Colorblind Ideology Is a Form of Racism
The need for colorblindness implies there is something shameful about people of color that we shouldn’t see or talk about.

It's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ www.fda.gov/animal-veter...

Oh dear, it’s happening again! I’ve stumbled upon what I believe (in this endorphin rush that is a new idea) is possibly the catchiest hook for a book possible. Super relevant, super marketable, and super…not the book I’m supposed to be working on 😐. It is very new and shiny, though… #amwriting

My 36th birthday is tomorrow 🎂and I want to spend the day donating to causes that I support, with a focus on people and organizations at odds with current governmental priorities. I have my own list of places I regularly donate, but if you can, please share others that matter to you! #altgov #lgbtq

The great thing about fighting back against this stuff is that if you end up losing anyway you get the same outcome you’d have gotten from complying but you don’t have to fucking hate yourself too.

These are training grants. 🚨

The Trump administration has launched a war on students and young people studying science.

It’s a common thread. Trump is killing student fellowship grants at NIH and NSF, and is killing the NIH and CDC in-house fellows programs.

Looks like an internal RFA at my institution that I’ve been working tirelessly on is being canceled 4 days before the due date. This would have been my first grant application as an Assistant Professor. I’m crushed. I guess work on pediatric kidney and liver transplant rejection will have to wait.

Happy BLACK History Month. I read Black books every month but I got two stacks for y'all.

First stack is books by Black authors I loved and the second are the ones I’m getting to.

Just a Black History Month reminder that it’s up to us to read, educate, AND apply what we have learned. Check out the stack of books on antiracism below; I have read many of them and would recommend. If you’re in the Cincy area and would like to borrow one, hit me up.

Apparently I haven’t been on my social media much lately (especially that site…), but it looks like my Division announced my promotion to Assistant Professor 🎉 I’m excited for the opportunity to continue using computers to tackle pediatric healthcare issues, this time with a fancy new title (:

Hi #MomsWritersClub! I’m back from a long break and ready to get into writing with y’all. Last November I wrote a middle grade fiction novel (yay!), but have spectacularly failed at editing it. In peak Erica fashion, I’m going to move on to a whole new project and see where it takes me instead :)
