Well, well, well @mrjamesob.bsky.social. Thanks to the Yuka app, I now know that it is far healthier for me to have a full sugar cab of appletiser than it is to have to bottle of freshly pressed apple juice by a well known brand who trade off how unadulterated their product is.

Sorry 617 Squadron, sorry Barnes Wallis, sorry Operation Chastise. Y'all just aren't on Trump's level 🙄
Hegseth: "President Trump directed the most complex and secretive military operation in history, and it was a resounding success."

Move over D Day!

I'm not a huge consumer of podcasts, but this one is excellent. If you're into 20th century urban planning and the more 'out there' proposals for the post-war reconstruction of Britain, this is likely to be very much your thing!
I'm the first guest on an excellent new podcast series by Ewan Cameron on utopian design. I'm chatting about Geoffrey Jellicoe's provocative Motopia scheme.

You can find Brave New Worlds on any podcast platform, and here it is on Spotify:

Now, I’m not saying Historic England should bring out a line of Action Figures but I’m certainly not saying they shouldn’t 😂😂😂

In a functioning world, the SEC would be looking very closely at the positions taken by Trump’s stock portfolio over the past 10 days. Anyone who sold stock before the tariff announcement, bought it back at the dip and sold it again after the tariff pause, made a ton of cash!

The kids are in bed, the wife is still too hungover to function properly, so I’m downstairs on my own, watching junk on the tv, drinking an espresso martini and mainlining After Eight mini eggs. So much winning!

So it’s World Book Day today and for once we were organised enough to put in some effort. Corey was desperate to go as Roz the Wild Robot from the @peterbrownstudio.com novel which he loved us reading to him. A couple of balloons and a bunch of papier mache later…. #worldbookday

The Welsh told the Saxons this hill was called "pen" (meaning "hill"). The Saxons added their word for hill, "tor," and called it Torpen (hill hill).

Later the Norse added their world for hill. So it became Torpen Haugr (Hill Hill Hill).

Now the English call it Torpenhow Hill (Hill Hill Hill Hill)

Before the bleakness of 2025 really sets in, why don’t you treat yourself to me waffling on to the Mirror about post-war pubs www.mirror.co.uk/travel/uk-ir...
UK's weird, wonderful and largely overlooked estate pubs are quickly vanishing
Architectural investigators Matthew Bristow and Emily Cole warn that post-war drinking dens have fallen out of fashion, yet symbolise an important part of the UK's history

The Roman walls emerging out of the murk. The thing this photo doesn’t show is that it’s about ten degrees warmer than it looks.

Funny old Premier League season. Liverpool aren’t actually playing that well and very hot and cold but are looking like they’ll have the league sewn up by February.

Only positive is that I didn’t journey down to the AMEX to watch that. Absolutely clueless. Genuinely think Hurzeler is in big trouble here. 2 points from Southampton, Fulham, Leicester, Palace and a string of shambolic performances.

As good a footballer as no.2 son is, I think he’s going to be an even better cricketer. He makes it looking annoyingly simple. ilFortunately his mum isn’t on here so doesn’t know what goes on in her living room when she’s out!

Looks like yet another example of “the world’s best keeper” getting a full hand to the ball but still letting it in. Whoever does Emi Martinez’s PR is a miracle worker.

Let’s have another stab at picking the #bhafc lineup.

Verbruggen
Veltman. JP. Igor. Pervis
Ayari. O Riley
Rutter. Pedro. Mitoma
Welbeck

No need to rush Dunk back, Igor has been so good. Baleba suspension allows O Riley to start. Would love to see Gruda in but can’t see how Rutter doesn’t play

It’s Motte and Bailey castle Tuesday! Is that a thing, maybe it should be. Really good site recce in the sunshine today and now really looking forward to the full earthwork survey in the new year.

In today’s, “life comes at you fast” news - no.3 braved the elements in a football tournament shortly after (whilst moving a wardrobe) I found his favourite dummy. Where’s that 6 years gone!
November 23, 2024 at 1:30 PM
For what it’s worth, I’d line up like this today:

Verbruggen

Hinshelwood JP Igor Pervis

Baleba O Riley

Rutter Pedro Mitoma

Welbeck.

Think that side will be close to what plays. Possibly with Ayari and Veltman starting ahead of O Riley and Hinshelwood.
