There’s no way companies don’t know this. Either they don’t care out of a preference to performatively take action or they *want* to enable the most hateful and predatory people on their platforms. Either way, they are willing accomplices.

“Newspeak” comes up a lot in these conversations, and it’s no joke. The only difference between 1984’s premise and what we have now is that government intervention wasn’t required - TikTok and YouTube incentivized people to happily inflict it upon themselves.
