In its second reversal today, UT Austin now says students arrested in protests will be allowed back on campus *for any purpose*—two hours after saying they would only be allowed back for "academic reasons" and the same day it distributed flyers saying those arrested were fully banned!

It seems pretty clear that treating the real concerns of student protests seriously also requires treating what the people who publicly represent them say as important and we all have to not play games and argue it’s *the only thing* that matters or conversely that it’s just a bad faith distraction

My Dad is a Nikki Haley conservative but he basically becomes a fan of any person who goes on Howard (loves Lady Gaga because she “came off well” on Stern) so I think this is honestly going to be a pretty interesting social experiment for thousands of middle aged men in that demographic

The only thing that’s been made clear for me since 10/7 is that for a lot of non-Jews we are only useful or worth defending so long we confirm their existing biases on what a Jew should be. It is blatantly applied to Palestinian voices as well and makes clear that allyship is conditional.
