He/him or they/them
Wait, they are paying people for no longer doing a particular job? I want that.

The podcast "Behind the Bastards" wrestled with this question in a couple episodes.

My wrong answer is that they are some kind of Gyrinidae.

Maybe, but you also just sold me a copy of the print zine.

Remember when you voted to confirm Secretary of Agriculture Rollins and sent out stupid form letters justifying it with your "best person for the job" nonsense? Secretary Rollins is choosing this. At least you're not voting to confirm judges, like some of your Democratic colleagues are STILL doing.

"Dear God, was the time traveler right?? Is there really an asshole named David Barton in the future that says all that fabricated bullshit about us? And people believe it? What the fuck, God?"

And I read it as it's ok to respect the pipeline of expertise, the domain of expertise for statisticians, but the pipeline of expertise, the domain of expertise, for coders, among other things, isn't that important.

Maybe it's because I come from the IT side of things, but I guess I got frosty at your dismissal of the "it's just code" while respecting your own domain of statistics. That just code is the result of who knows how many hours of human coders who have solved R coding problems over and over.

with how some of the actions you are choosing in that AI experience square with you broader opinion of AI.
October 9, 2025 at 9:58 PM
My problem is this. I kept getting stuck that the point at the end, which I agree with about needing time and people, did NOT seem to square with most of the experience you wrote about for using AI. I've had to read a lot more of your writing to understand your perspective, and I still struggle

What I don't understand is why you are making the assumption that your singular positive experience with the complex probability machine that is ChatGPT somehow represents even a simple majority experience with it.

Senator, I've been withering in my criticism of you and the other Senate Dems but I'm encouraged to now actually see some spine and determination. Thank you. I hope it holds and signals a new determination and understanding of what Senate Dems are facing.

I disagree. The liberal white Christians absolutely do NOT have it in them to use these terms, neither lay people or clergy, and these terms are almost exclusively the domain of white evangelicals to condemn former Christians like myself. I wear my apostasy and blasphemy as a badge of honor.

This is some dark comedy from Senator Baldwin. Literally one day after "I will not go along like business as usual..." the Senator posts another photo op talking to 5 whole Wisconsin residents - business as usual from the invisible Democratic Senator from Wisconsin.

Maybe one day when it doesn't feel like care is dictated by liability lawyers and hospital billing codes, but that day is not today. It's almost a farce at switching providers due to insurance and job changes. I don't even tell them about SI anymore with a new provider. They can't handle it.

Equal parts "oh, man" but also "least surprising character development arc" I say as I thumb through my copy of The Complete Magician's Tables.
