Ppl should be v careful about how they discuss Epstein & sexual violence. It is a triggering & widespread experience. Respect survivors.

▪️52% of women & 28% of men will/have experience[d] sexual violence in their lives*

▪️36% of girls & 22% of boys have/will be sexually abused.
If you have been affected by the release of the Epstein files, help is available. Here are US resources:
Disaster Distress Help – Call 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline – Call 800-273-8255 or Chat with Lifeline

I counted 65 and some of my misses are embarrassing (my high school didn't include many classics). The later ones were interesting to see on here. I love the show but didn't pay attention to the specific titles unless they were brought up in dialogue. #BookSky 💙📚
For #Readers: The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge is pretty darn great. It has the 339 books (novels, nonfiction, plays, poetry) that Rory of the The Gilmore Girls* is shown reading. I'm only at 23% so I need to get to steppin'.

* I've haven't seen an episode...yet.

Shapiro is not playing and I love it. I'm a PA resident and I voted for him, but I haven't been his biggest fan. But I love the emotion and fire he's showing here. More of that, please!
Shapiro: He rose to some prominence by writing a book about growing up in Appalachia, where there are a whole lot of people who get SNAP. He made millions of dollars off telling their stories, and then he turned his damn back on those very people he likes to write about and claim as his own.

I need hope and inspiration right now anywhere I can get it. Today, I got both when I rediscovered this gem.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

Many of Trump's supporters don't know about the things he's doing - the media they consume does not cover it. My super MAGA father rarely has awareness about stuff I bring up to him. We are up against a propaganda machine. I'm not suggesting Ds stop going on CNN, but we need them on Fox, too.

This story is INSANE and well worth reading. One of my favorite parts (and there are many) is that the DOJ spokesperson incorrectly spells "Lindsey" in her statement. As a journalism major, the whole thing is hilarious but for some reason, that aspect is the icing on the cake for me.
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

I don’t understand the constant discourse on mass shooters’ politics. What difference does it make? Is shouting that into the void going to prevent more? Does anyone think those who believe Trump’s lies will listen to statistics proving him wrong? Can we stop blaming and start solving?

I can’t stand Jimmy Kimmel. And now I have to take his side. Thanks, Trump.

I was paying for my husband’s slushee at sheetz and a sign on the register warned that tariffs are prompting a 26% increase on Hershey candy bars beginning on 9/15. Obviously candy bars aren’t a necessity but what about that hike on things that are? I know I can’t afford that and I’m middle class.

I went to my little library to add some books and check the notebook because I really needed a pick-me-up. This was the only new entry. I am incredibly sad that someone would do this. Feedback welcome. #booksky 💙📚

Went to stock my little library (stewards can apply for free book opportunities!) with 2 new releases. Today’s notes were again very uplifting. My favorite: “little libraries save lives”. #booksky 💙📚

I visit my free little library frequently, especially on hard days. The notebook I have in it has notes from visitors - saying they love it, talking about books, etc. Today my favorite one just said “I hope your day is full of magic.” Love my fellow readers and book obsessed people #booksky 💙📚

I saw some hype over a debut novel - The Names by Florence Knapp and bought a used copy on PangoBooks. I’m 70ish pages in and so far it is crazy good - way beyond my expectations. Interested to know what other readers think of it. #BookSky 💙📚

My MAGA dad’s thoughts on Epstein shit show: he doesn’t think Trump is on a client list but that “he’s gotta do something”. But the bigger surprise was what he said next - “he can’t keep blaming Biden for everything. Biden, Biden, Biden. It just doesn’t make sense.” Hope springs eternal, friends.

This. This. This.
The thing about the Epstein disgustingness that strikes me hardest is that hundreds of rich old men raped underage girls and the only person currently in jail for that vile behavior is a woman.

Just watched a commercial from Walgreens to “reframe menopause” with all kinds of very untrue crap like “menopause is freedom”. I guess I appreciate the effort to (I think?) empower women. But no one talks about menopause to begin with so there’s not much to reframe. 1/2

Attended a Juneteenth discussion yesterday at work and learned so much. Ashamed to admit my ignorance about it but now Opal White is my new hero. If you're unfamiliar, read about her. At 89, she walked from Ft. Worth to DC to raise awareness and advocate for the holiday designation. 89!
