I first met Ezra Klein when he was a 19 year old UCSC student. I’ve seen him high in an Adams Morgan rowhouse backyard. I’ve watched him defend Megan McArdle’s honor. I remember JournoList. That op-ed is the most embarrassing thing I have ever seen Ezra Klein say in his entire adult life

Crazy moment in the NYC mayoral debate. They're doing a lightning round about the first country they'd visit as mayor. Cuomo talks up Israel, then the moderators forced Mamdani to give a yes/no answer whether he supports a Jewish state of Israel. (He said he supports a state w equal rights.)

Something has gone very wrong with Holocaust memory when the Israeli-born grandchild of Holocaust survivors is disinvited from the anniversary of the liberation of Buchenwald, because the moral lessons he takes from the Shoah are not those of the nation-state that claims a monopoly on Shoah memory.
‘In severing the Shoah from “universal values”, the Israeli embassy rebuffs decades of mainstream discourse on why we should remember the Holocaust.’
