Living in an entangled web of beings in the armpit of a vast and silent galaxy
Looking forward to reading the smallprint of the UK Govt's new proposals about animal welfare. It's easy to be cynical when you need the whole system to change.

I'm already rolling my eyes at the shadow chancellor's declaration that it'll facilitate imports from less protected settings.

No capitulation to Russia. It would be criminal for Europe to capitulate to the "deal" from Trump/Putin that delivers Putin everything he wanted without any acknowledgement of the crimes he has committed.
The wall near St. Michael’s Monastery in #Kyiv

Here are the faces of the Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine

Here are ordinary people who did not want war -they wanted to live. But when Russians came to kill us,they stood up to defend their country

This is the price Ukraine is paying

While I agree that the best thing for the planet and ourselves is going vegan, insisting on total veganism is really, really tough. I've been vegan since 2019 and living in rural areas at the mercy of small rural supermarkets is tough unless you like eating the same things repeatedly.

1. The Daily Express should eff off.

2. Celebration is often an act of rebellion that says 'We survived, no matter what you tried to do to us.'

Starmer's Labour are never, ever going to appease the fascist media until they're shooting people on beaches and stealing the gold from their corpses.
Asylum seekers aren't crying and terrified all the time and that makes the Daily Express mad

The eye roll comes from a woman whose parents fled Egypt to the UK and who, as an adult, moved to LA as an economic migrant.

Why are these people platformed and never called out for their massive hypocrisy?

I'm so sick of it. Here's to all those who challenge that narrative.
A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.

It makes me feel all weepy when social & environmental justice are the top of the agenda. Only been waiting all my adult life for these conversations.
Social justice and environmental justice are one and the same thing.

I'm at that point in life where Mary Maloney's tactic of ringing a bell to drown out "politicians" saying ridiculous things seems like a sensible step forward. I'd happily stand behind F*rage and clang every time he spoke.

Whether I could keep it to bell ringing is another thing entirely.

I've really noticed that supermarkets and restaurants are making it harder and harder to access vegan produce... fewer varieties of beans on the shelves; removing entire vegan product lines; stocking the worst-tasting stuff and removing popular lines...

We've got to improve access to vegan food.

Good for you. Good for animals. Good for the planet. What's not to like?

Starting by reducing meat, dairy & eggs in one meal a week helps ease the shift. If every adult on the planet had 1 plant-based day a week, that'd be a huge step in the right direction

We have a media problem, don't we?

A massive one.
Hannan and Frost in the Telegraph.
Sunak in the Times.
Kwasi Kwarteng in the iPaper.
Johnson in the Mail.
Gove editing the Spectator.
Farage everywhere.
All of them shamelessly honking out their ‘Listen to me!’ garbage, as the country flails around in the unbelievable mess they’ve made.
Nauseating.

Odd one out question:

One of these villains is a complete work of fiction who did not execute their own dog, try to stir up race riots/rabid hatred/racism or hang around with p*dophiles and engage in s*x trafficking.

Protecting wealth comes from people who view the wealthy like my dad behaves with assets: losing as much as possible as quickly as he can.

In reality, most people seem to act like my stepdad with assets: hoarding their own, accumulating it from others and using services he could pay for.

Being vegan isn't a purity test.

If your whole reason to eat meat and dairy is you can't quit kippers, and that's justifying eating bacon, cheeseburgers, cake and full Englishes, be vegan except for the kippers and cut out the stuff you can leave behind.

I wish we'd stop seeing it that way.

Who cares? Who cared when the vacuum man went to Singapore?

They weren't paying taxes properly anyway and they profit enormously from this country, like Branson, like Dyson. Just fuck off and go then. You were already cheating the country.

I'm happy to pay tax to support the UK.
Former Head of Comms for the IEA, Annabel Denham, says the super rich will leave if we have a wealth tax.

Yes, the very same IEA that brought us Liz Truss’ disastrous mini budget. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Green Party leader Zack Polanski explains that their taxable assets can’t leave. #bbcqt

What's with the 'female' shit?

Woman, Stanley. Woman.

Call me 'a female' (n.) like I'm a lizard laying eggs or some kind of spider and I'm going to start roaring in feminist rage.

Idk why people are surprised at the tylenol / autism thing.

The man literally proposed that we could use disinfectant to kill covid in our blood or get light into our bodies somehow.

Anyone would think there was another big drama to throw a cloud of obfuscation over.

What's the opposite of M*GA red?

Is this the news?

White bloke shoots another white bloke...

White bloke sacked for hanging around with another white bloke s*x offender...

White bloke in trouble with white bloke press for hosting another white bloke part of a "plausible genocide" ...

Powerful info from @sentientmedia.org #foodsystems shift webinar (happening now) with @globalecoguy.bsky.social : pretty startling comparison of CO2 emissions from coal compared with beef. Even if you are IN #climateaction, you may need reminding.

Today's news reminding me to top up my ire for Michael Gove.

All I need is a reminder of the smarmy, smug-faced Cameron and my ire-o-meter will be replete.

Nothing like a little cold fury with my breaktime snack.

When you're telling the president of South Africa, who was imprisoned several times for taking part in anti-apartheid rallies as a younger man, that 'white g*noc*de' is going on in his country ...

Yikes.

Every time I see Kristi Noem, I just think, "there's a woman who killed her dog Cricket because she was incapable of training him, and got away with it."

Why on earth would you think she'd understand American law?

Honestly, the irony of 'backing Britain' !!!

On the other hand, the tantrum is kind of amusing to watch.

They're literally furious because we don't have to wait in a queue at the airport and trade is marginally easier than it was. Hysterical fascist meltdown.
