I am no constitutional scholar, but I can't help but feel that "the President gets to dictate what every university can teach and what every television station should broadcast" is closer to what the founding fathers were worried about when it comes to free speech than trigger warnings on syllabi.

Tearing things down is easy. Building things is hard.

But when it comes to offering blueprints for a better future, the pro-democracy side is failing massively.

So excited to publish the interview with @sarahlongwell25.bsky.social that I haven't shut up about for weeks. It's worth a listen.
“These are not builders. These are arsonists.”

The damage we’re seeing is driven by people who never planned to lead, only to destroy. But even after we extinguish the fire, we hold the responsibility to shape what comes next for America’s future.

There is a way that this could be — and in fact should be— framed where this is not about political victories but human rights, the rule of law and what is just in America. When will we learn to stop treating democratic crises as mere horse race politics?

All people are not equal before the law in the US. This week on the podcast, @ecetemelkuran.bsky.social explains how ignoring that reality has opened the door for extremist authoritarian takeover.

Ece is the rare political thinker who speaks with literary elegance, not bland talking points. Listen!
Democracy in the US is starting to feel like a joke, but we’re not laughing.

Award-winning journalist @ecetemelkuran.bsky.social joins #TheContext to explain how neoliberalism has turned democracy into a system built on inequality and how that’s fueling the global surge in autocratic rule.
