Another great reason why all cities in the US should have speed cameras
A radar image of a speed offender caught in central Switzerland last month revealed that the culprit was not only a duck, but likely a repeat offender, local authorities said.

"Mice who liked each other often sat with the tips of their tails wrapped together."
Philosopher Eva Meijer adopted lab mice, not to experiment on, but to get to know them and their perspective on life.

"The mice showed me how life and death are always entwined, and how thin the thread is that separates them." 🧪

I remember reading this when it came out, and I still think about it often. fuck turbotax, etc
With Trump reportedly planning to end the IRS Direct File program, there's no better time to remember how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free.

(Published 2019)
Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free
Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

Trump is now trying to kill off the Presidio Trust in San Francisco — a national treasure that’s transformed the Presidio into a self-sustaining, world-class park.

Trump is so deeply vile that he can’t tolerate success if it doesn’t benefit him personally.

This move is illegal. We won’t go quietly

Late January gleaning haul.

This became tomato sauce, roasted bell peppers, apple sauce, apple jam, and minestrone. $0.

"Girl dinner", but all from scratch

Baked up sourdough rye-teff crackers. Used handheld blender to whizz 1/2 can chickpeas with homemade tahini in a bowl (to avoid mussing up food processor). Topped hummus w/gochujang chili crisp. Cut up carrots, plus farmers market broccoli and Navel oranges.

It's a perfect rainy day to watch 'Stalker'.

Andrei Tarkovsky's mystery mirror-world. The narrative plods so slowly to the point of becoming psychedelic. Trust me, 160+ life-changing minutes.

I love QQ boba and creamy milk drinks, but hate the plastic waste. So I started experimenting w/my own a few years ago, and I'm finally landing on my faves-- like this caramel milk boba.

Tapioca pearls cooked, then soaked in jaggery simple syrup

Making apple sauce > buying apple sauce.

I adapted/veganized mine from this GFE recipe: www.gardenfortheenvironment.org/recipeblog/2...

I like it thicc and textural (e.g. lightly mashed), with just a whisper of brown sugar 'cuz roasting apples makes them intensely sweet.

It's Tuesday, and I recommend you watch Barbara Streisand's 1983 directorial debut, Yentl (rhymes with lentil).

In the hallowed halls of cross-dressing films, is it better than Tootsie or Mrs. Doubtfire or Orlando? Nah. Def classier than She's the Man,though.
