Why did I ever buy these plastic figures? I get bouts of avoidism just looking at the instructions. Good thing I have some metal minis to get a proper start on my 1942 Australian Rifle platoon/Independent Company for the Timor campaign.

I'll be at the Hartenstein Airborne Museum this coming weekend along with @jurdj.bsky.social, @clogfather.bsky.social, @eltjov.bsky.social & Nick Skinner. We'll host three Market Garden games for the broader public. If you're in the vicinity we'd love if you'd stop by and maybe even roll a few dice

Woohoo! Hussars charging a square in General d'Armee 2

Curious to find out how busy it will be tomorrow in Oudewater. This was the first time I saw my figures and Plungy's terrain together.

Working on a "sand table" for Oudewater 1575. For size, I fitted the wooden planks around the plates of previous projects (Oosterhout 1944 and Naarden 1673). The insides will be painted light blue.

With our Oudewater 1575 project nearing the end, we have started preparing small scenes like this lady with her wash line. All done by Plungy. In the meantime I am working on the more mundane task of basing 1000 infantry and adding flags.

Same here! 🙋
Found this in a shop in Watchet. This is where my #wargaming journey started in the 1970s, with my Airfix figures fighting over this castle. #needling #wargames

Hannie Schaft, WW2 Dutch Resistance on the left, and on the right, totally not Hannie Schaft dunno what you're talking about.

Will we make both? If you're good....

Our Oudewater 1575 project is moving along nicely. Plungy has just poured water in this city canal. In the meantime, I'm nearly done with 1000 infantry.

An update of a popular post on how to deal with panzergrenadiers in Chain of Command, now that CoCv2 has added a few more tactical options to the tool box. Whether you consider them overpowered or just powerful, they are not invincible.

My WS&S article about the Battle of Ane 1227 is in the video, and @yarkshiregamer.bsky.social is smart enough not to try to pronounce my name 😅
New video on the state of the #Wargames Magazines, as you would expect I'm honest and massively biased but really what else would you expect. I tried to do a "poo" face like other Utubers below are some outakes.

Last action at the En Avant! Sharp Practice event at BIG Bristol that did not happen. These pioneers were ready to break down the monastery door, but never got the chance because force morale broke.

One can never have enough flags. This was my first Blood & Plunder naval battle. I like the general activation mechanism, but not too fond of the gamyness of commanders.

Painting Warlord Epic ECW in Spanish 1575 style. Lots of reds and yellow to make them look Spanisher for our Oudewater project.

The Vallejo Game Wash is a huge time saver, but I am still wondering why they didn't wear uniforms back then!

It was such a joy to be able to play the brand new Crivitz scenario at #Cloglard, especially with Bas's gorgeous AB Frenchmen. Crossing a marsh crossing turned out to be a right challenge, so the French needed Soult's cavalry flank march to win the game.

@jurdj.bsky.social knows how to take the most flattering pictures of me 😅
Eltjo and Bas put on General d'Armee for #ClogLard. Battle of Golberg 1806, a desperate Prussian rearguard against the French juggernaut. The battles seemed to go down to the wire on both sessions #SpreadtheLard

I forget sometimes that not everybody's clairvoyant or has seen everything I've done!

Marine Juice is one of those immensely useful all-purpose tricks for just about anything you'd care to paint - unless you prefer darker, more intense shading, or you're painting black!

Prussian Fusiliers pushed out of Crivitz in turn one of Gda2 at #ClogLard

After the first test I combined a visit to Hamburger Tactica with a battlefield tour to get a better feel for the landscape #ClogLard
Yesterday we did a play test of the battle of Crivitz (3 November 1806), between Prussians and French. Just like the actual battle, the Prussians gave Bernadotte's Corps a bloody nose. It is a nice, small scenario with about 10 units on each side and the Prussians in a good defensive position.

We have tried the scenario a few times now, each time tweaking it to improve the game #ClogLard
Gaming the combat near Crivitz with General d'Armee 2. While French infantry are slowly moving through the marsh, their compatriots assault the village - and fail. #spreadthelard

I love it when a plan comes together. Last night we tested the GdA2 Crivitz game for #ClogLard. Terrain setup was a breeze because we had both been to the battlefield. The French 8th Line stormed Crivitz and took it on turn one, while their skirmishers were about to enter the marsh.
