Previous homeowner more recently began adding #nativeplants to the garden. I continue, weeding #non-nativeplant space hogs carefully, because I might notice something like this quiet, beneficial, beautiful #bellwort #merrybells #uvalariagrandiflora #decolonize #backyardhabitat #gardenforwildlife

Neither #dandelions nor these lawn #violets are #nativeplants where I live, but I keep them both anyway. Dandelion leaves in salads, making wishes from the spent blooms 😃. Violets earn their keep by their loveliness...and bees do visit them. #backyardhabitat #chemicalfreelawn #may

Slowly #decolonizing yard, replacing mostly non-native plants, with #nativeplants in patches. I found a small Shrubby St. John's wort, then it's tiny companion, drowning in sea of non-native bulb plants. (Relocated them to front yard.) Made space for #wildbergamot. #gardenforwildlife

Continuing to learn about my new home's garden population. Deciding whether to keep or remove non-natives (I'm not a 100% purist). This is "definitely get rid of asap"

"The researchers identified biases in recent literature, most notably those generated from a focus on "popular" and "charismatic" insects like bees and butterflies, despite them being in the vast minority of insect biodiversity."

Other-than-Human Survivance Against the Trent-Severn Waterway
Emerging from an Indigenous Nishnaabeg ontology, “survivance” calls for an understanding of other-than-human persons as agentially surviving and resisting colonial violence.

It was warm enough for a few hours on Sunday for a #bee to venture out and look for flowers. Not native, I don't think, either been or flower...😆. Spring bulb plants from previous home owner, but food for someone anyway. And both bee and flowers are cute and pretty. #pollinators #spring
