Archaeoducks in mud action ~ the search for ancient worms is rewarding yet exhausting. Important with snoozing breaks and reflections for upcoming digging sites. 🪱⛏️🦆

Rebooting 🤖 Giving a shout out to @pacificmichael.bsky.social who visited Stavanger and the museum recently! Hearing ‘Are you Ellen from Twitter’ reminder me of the good vibes SoMe can have & people I have connected to. Had a break, mostly because the weather’s been so nice. Duck post on the way 🦆

There’s only a small piece of text on each page of this book, just enough to fill the space left by its intricate borders. ‘The Prism of Imagination’ was written by the Baroness de Calabrella and published in 1844.

Sola ruin church. Two modern bauta commemorate Astrid and Erling Skjalgsson, end of the Viking Age. Erling was a Christian Viking, a stave church likely stod her before the stone church. Archaeological graves tell of a large farm on the land here (Sola, outside Stavanger) by the North Sea. #norway

Happy International women’s day ~ talked about women in the Viking Age for todays day. One of them was the mighty Volve, a sorcerous, once a respected role of women of age. The new religion Christianity forbade magic, a fall for strong women. The local Queen of Gausel (painting) had a Volve staff.
