Archaeoducks in mud action ~ the search for ancient worms is rewarding yet exhausting. Important with snoozing breaks and reflections for upcoming digging sites. 🪱⛏️🦆

Sola ruin church. Two modern bauta commemorate Astrid and Erling Skjalgsson, end of the Viking Age. Erling was a Christian Viking, a stave church likely stod her before the stone church. Archaeological graves tell of a large farm on the land here (Sola, outside Stavanger) by the North Sea. #norway

Happy International women’s day ~ talked about women in the Viking Age for todays day. One of them was the mighty Volve, a sorcerous, once a respected role of women of age. The new religion Christianity forbade magic, a fall for strong women. The local Queen of Gausel (painting) had a Volve staff.

About time to clear up and prep the green house for spring again, of course the ducks have baskets to snug up in for important siestas. We also needed shelter from a sudden hail shower.

Every time I see this, which I love, I think about the birch pitch chewing gum in our museum collection from the Stone Age with teeth marks from a child. #Norway #stoneagegum www.unimus.no/portal/#/thi...
