Your monthly reminder:

Keep writing. When no one cares, persist. When things appear to be crumbling, keep at it. When it's difficult, push through. When you feel alone, listen to the stories in your blood. Just write.

Interested in hearing messed up family secrets? I have a new post where I’m exploring some of mine:
True Enough: Strange Stories From My Family Tree
Welcome to “True Enough,” where I explore the family lore that lives somewhere between fact and fiction. Names changed. Shit redacted. Vibes remain.

Just heard “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt on the radio for the first time in years and realized… this is literally Joe Goldberg’s theme song.
“She smiled at me on the subway… but I won’t lose no sleep on that, 'cause I’ve got a plan.”
Sir?? 🚩👀

Went to a law school alumni event last night and just had to sit there and pretend like I hadn’t been writing about murder and other types of human depravity all day.

“I believe the insistence on blurbs has become incredibly damaging to what should be our industry’s ultimate goal: producing books of the highest possible quality.” —https://www.theguardian.com/books/2025/jan/31/simon-schuster-us-imprint-authors-blurbs-books
Simon & Schuster imprint will no longer ask authors to obtain blurbs for their books
Publisher says expecting authors, agents and editors to secure blurbs can create ‘an incestuous and unmeritocratic literary ecosystem that often rewards connections over talent’

How are my New Year’s resolutions going?
Well, it’s not even February yet and I’ve been stress-eating leftover Halloween candy all week, so…not great.

I just saw there’s a documentary out on Prime about the scandalous history of Lisa Frank. Can someone watch it and let me know on a scale of 1 to 5 how much it’ll ruin my childhood? Thx.

I recently finished reading "What Still Burns" by @ellegrawl.bsky.social An interesting mystery set in Northern California. I enjoyed it. Interesting characters. Enough suspense and intrigue to keep me hooked but not so much that I felt worn out. I recommended it to my wife, who is now enjoying it.
