One of the people fired from NOAA today is the director of the Ocean Acidification Program. That program also leads the U.S. government's effort on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). The destruction of American science is incomprehensible.

If in this situation, download 'Genasys Protect'. This app helps you understand your fire zone, evacuation status, & current spread and containment status of fires across US, as well as providing information on evacuation points.

This chap found the following in his local area (in ppt; PFOA & PFOS, respectively):
Tap H2O: 5, 3.1
Isolated Reservoir: 1.3, 1.3
Isolated Shore: 0.75 PFOA. The shore concentration was more than PFOA [ ] shed from a new gortex jacket under a shower for 24 hrs. These are non-negligible results.

It's been called the 'Gulf of Mexico' for four centuries and I will stick to that defnition for upcoming and future publications. Calling it 'Gulf of America' because "...we do the most work there..." sets a dangerous precedent.

Had my eye on the US outbreak for a bit. As of now, 60 people in the US have the virus, and as of a few hours ago - 630 cows in California have H5N1.

I typically follow 'outbreakupdates' on Twitter. Outbreaknewstoday on here seems like a great source too

Many modern climate datasets (including gridded historical temperatures and reanalyses etc) rely on ICOADS which is maintained by a small group in the US.
