People with kids in school: is homework less common now than it used to be? I used to have daily or weekly homework in nearly every class, but my 6th grader has had probably between 5 - 10 homework assignments his entire life. Every teacher he's had doesn't assign homework. Is this widespread?

@justthezooofus.bsky.social I loved your kinkajou episode! I volunteer at a sanctuary known for wildcats that cares for other carnivorans, including kinks. On our aggression scale (for safety protocols), they are rated the same as tigers. Thanks for so clearly explaining why they make awful pets!

My entire career. I started a podcast as a hobby with no media experience, no connections, just a mic and some free time. Built an audience, met collaborators and made friends purely through social media. Now science communication is my actual job that I get paid to do

In the book I'm on right now, published in 1961 but set in an advanced future with interplanetary travel, a character's parentage was just revealed, and another character (a medical professional!) asked "How do they know?" & the answer had to do with blood types and hair/eye color lmao
reading mid-century science fiction is really interesting because they imagined in the 21st century we'd have vacation homes on Mars and robot butlers but no cell phones
