The librarian, not the feminist philosopher. Though that would be cool.

I’m a strong supporter of books as empathy builders for all ages, libraries as community spaces, and access to information.
This is the plot of the picture book Owl Babies by Martin Waddell.

My preteen used my email to sign up for Duolingo and now I am being threatened by an owl.

This is my husband. I’m glad to be raising boys with this good man.

At the swimming pool, I feel something lumpy in the pocket of the 7-year-old’s swim trunks.
Me: What’s in your pocket? Him: Chickens.

My seven year old son fell in love with a pair of pale pink roller skates at the sporting goods resale shop today. They were $15, so they came home with us. I do not know how to roller skate, but thankfully I have acquired several Roller Derby-playing friends in my career as a Librarian.

We requested that our local library refresh its collection of the Dragonbreath books by @tkingfisher.com and now our seven year old is gobbling them up.

Yes, my husband and I both work at the library, but anyone can make purchase suggestions. Try it!

It was Spring Break for my kids and we visited a park where we got to ride camels. They’re so big! Touching them and seeing them up close made them seem more real for all of us.

Springtime view from my library this afternoon.

I like these. Excellent party favors once the kids are old enough not to immediately dump them out.

There’s a robot invading my home. It says it had been sent from Saturn for snacks.

Snow day number three in Southern Oregon. This is the first snow we’ve had all winter and it has been a doozy!

My son is reading this book in school. I’m a librarian and have glanced at this cover many times over the last 15 years or so. I always thought it was a picture of a guy in a cowboy hat. My kid thinks I need better glasses.

My first grader was moved to draw a picture of Dr. King giving a speech.

A local community garden collects leaves (for mulch, presumably) in October and November, and each year I look forward to the leaf protest signs that pop up once they’ve had enough. They’re not gonna take any more!

Pie crust cookies are one of the best things about holiday baking.

Look what the boys and I found on our walk this morning. What a delightful thing to do!

My neighbor down the street has a new yard sign. She is a very active volunteer with the local animal shelter and seems to always be fostering kittens, so this one is especially appropriate. 🐈

I cracked up in the shampoo aisle yesterday when I saw these. I know Old Spice is leaning into the joke, but I think Head and Shoulders is genuinely here for men who want to smell like bourbon. Or menthol.

Very happy with my Sunday afternoon plans.

We were playing Catan Jr with the six-year-old and he decided to raise an army of goats. In order, they are named: Marv, Cloudfur, Conehorn, Footballears, Cakehooves, Curvetail, Conebeard, Mountybump, Furbot, Bumpybody, and Shinesword.

If you see this, consider posting something pink, but don’t feel like you have to. I just liked this one.

My 11yr old is sitting in a big box, reading a book by @neilhimself.neilgaiman.com as you do.
