And the second day of #ATCR25 also came to an end. Felt the meeting was a real fresh air of ideas. Super glad I joined. The best part is always to meet with old friends, and the #goodscience of course 😉
I love the location in Antwerp too 😍

Is it a cold, flu or Covid-19?
We often wonder how to tell the difference right?
I found this article from my company #GSK quite insightful and the graphics in particular. #covid19 #flu #science

For the moment we have a first policy doc which is the base of our assessment of data submissions.
It is a living doc to which scientists are invited to provide suggestions and feedback. We envision to enlarge it as different data and gene scenarios arise.
Should be visible with the QR code

8/10 In this context, @yanasafonova.bsky.social explains the importance of assessing the quality of genome assemblies and encourage scientists to perform these pre-flight checks before using assemblies as references for new gene annotation

7/10 Different data types on the rise over the past years have the power to unravel new knowledge but also call for specific quality assessments.

6/10 The second part of the workshop focused on the guide for new gene/allele annotation and nomenclature. Once again, quality checks are the first step! Before nomenclature, it is important to uniquely define new sequences, reasons enforcement of unique identifiers is encouraged.

5/10 No surprise but QUALITY is the key! Good quality data are a guarantee for success! Lack of precise, transparent and peer reviewed processes for gene assignation up to today has led to confusion and problems in existing nomenclature systems. Time to change this!

4/10 The process is not trivial, TR/IG genes pose several challenges. @cdubsig.bsky.social and Andrew Collins presented exemplary scenarios in species such as macaque and inbred mouse strains, where gene modifications such as duplications and insertions pose major challenges to allele assignation.

2/10 The TR-IG Nomenclature Review Committee (NRC) was elected by the IUIS TR-IG NSC in October 2022. TR-IG NRC has been tasked by @iuis-online.bsky.social with developing procedures for evaluating, naming, and reporting new germline genes encoding T-cell receptors (TR) and immunoglobulins (IG).

I can relate to this 😅
Maternity leave is wonderful… and terrible… for people like me who love their job and are passionate about it, being stuck with diapers and not being able to use the brain as we would like is a nightmare for our mental health 😅
Tell me about science stuff please 😂
