A quite remarkable result in a constituency that had only ever elected Labour at FPTP parliamentary contests (Senedd or Westminster).
Labour’s 11% is not only its worst ever Senedd by-election result but its worst ever result in a Welsh valleys seat.

If replicated at next year’s contest, 18% would be Labour’s 2nd worst performance at a Wales wide election since 1918 (marginally above the 15% it polled in Wales at the 2019 Euro elections).
For Plaid, 30% would be back at the heights scored in 1999 *but* this time in 1st place #senedd #devolution
