Couldn’t agree more! That’s why I helped the @umich.edu Library put all the fan mail from Orson Welles’s WAR OF THE WORLDS broadcast online.

I can say from experience it’s a great tool for getting students thinking about media literacy, misinformation, “fake news,” etc…

Guess it's time to bring this back out for film class with an upcoming unit on Casablanca, propaganda, and wartime media. For a time this was down/unlisted. I was gratified to see it up and openly listed when I searched today.

Don't do fascism, y'all. Shout it down wherever you find it.

🚨 Big news 5 years in the making: some friends and I made a documentary! 1000 WOMEN IN HORROR hits Shudder soon, directed by Donna Davies and inspired by my 2020 book of the same name

If you are in Australia, I hope you can make it to the world premiere at the Melbourne International Film Festival

The first time Charlie Chaplin used his voice in a film, he wielded it to forcefully condemn the rising forces of fascism around the globe.

I realize this has been said before, but Fahrenheit 451 feels more and more relevant these days.
While destructive scanning is a common practice among some book digitizing operations, Anthropic's approach is somewhat unusual due to its massive scale.
Anthropic destroyed millions of print books to build its AI models
Company hired Google’s book-scanning chief to cut up and digitize “all the books in the world.”…

I have not been to a lot of musicals, but went to Moulin Rouge and it was really fun. Learned about Juke Box Musicals as a genre too.

We have so far been unable to reach a deal with Vox Media that includes fair pay, AI protections, competitive benefits, improved severance and layoff procedures.

Should we not reach a fair contract tonight, our 250-member @VoxMediaUnion.bsky.social has overwhelmingly authorized a strike. ⏰ @vox.com
