All I think about when I hear people say that it’s bad taste to dance on Hulk Hogan’s grave is that Emmett Till’s monument had to be replaced with a 500lb steel bulletproof monument because white people simply won’t stop riddling it with bullets. So now it just has tons of dents. From bullets.

In some countries, like the UK, there’s a (relatively recent) tradition of letting the party of any lawmaker killed in an act of political violence run unopposed in the by-election.

It lets people know violence cannot change the balance of power. It would be good for the US to do this.

For anyone who thinks I'm joking here (and it's funny, but no) rumor is that the National Guard deployed in LA was sent under a 29 day order to avoid housing allowances, which means they have to fully pay for their own shelter. In LA. Zero notice. Durable fascisms don't shortchange the muscle.
Sad as it is to say, the greatest consoling thought I have as we march towards a fascism is how unlikely it is to last not because people are brave, or moral, or prepared to combat it... but because it's expensive to maintain, and the man driving us to it couldn't even keep a fucking casino afloat.

It's wild to me that somehow Democrats and their consultants are *still* coming away with the message that the moderate approach is the winning one.

It continues to be based on assuming the base will support them forever, and all they need to do is convince some Republicans to join them.

Last night’s article in the Washington Post about D.C. police responding to a 911 call by illegally letting DOGE onto private property is unlike any news story I have ever read. Every single person should read this article and think about where our society is going.

One nice thing about the Trump era is that it’s revealed how much of the American political, media and economic elite believe in absolutely nothing.

Best way to directly help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated firefighters is to donate to ARC. They do expungement and run a training center in Ventura to help get folks all the certifications they need:

TLDR: Blame game on hydrants, smelt, & budgets is mostly BS. Real culprit is climate change & human reticence - we need more home hardening, less urban sprawl, & far less NIMBYism
