Real people are much more pleasant (and balanced) to learn about systems from. Less unhinged takes etc.

I get intensely annoyed when people argue that "pirating books is *actually* good for the author because [XXXX]" as if the author shouldn't get to decide that for themselves.

I think that was more Mao. "The Four Olds" and all that.

Oh no, the Internet is absolutely full of people who don't think stuff should cost money, and who believe anyone who makes above minimum wage is a class traitor who yearns for the guillotine.

Internet arguments are not real places.

Okay so which of those numbers reduces with the example expense reductions you described here?

I agree that the "miscellaneous" category is ridiculous and should be scrapped from any analysis like this one.

Which of these numbers seem wrong to you, though? Is it just that it's about median values, which are gonna skew high because most of the population lives in expensive places (cities)?

I mean it adds up pretty fast - little kids are a lot more labor-intensive, so you want to keep a higher staff to kid ratio

let’s say it’s six kids to one adult, at 1300/month - that’s about 92K to pay that one person’s salary, any benefits they might get, any related overhead, etc

4:1? 62K

My very silly campaign slogan: it should not cost more to send your kid to daycare than it does to college.
