Fixer of broken things, collector of the unwanted. Weird cars, obsolete electronics, random brain droppings. He/Him
So the dr can charge me for showing up late, but i don't get a discount when I have to sit in the waiting room? Got it.

I was just asleep, then something at work broke and I have to go fix it :(

people that have zero coping skills for minor inconveniences are exhausting. My mom is going full boomer and absolutely losing her shit because the tv won't load whatever she's trying to watch.
December 6, 2025 at 4:14 AM
I keep looking at "for parts" things on ebay and thinking "I could probably fix that", immediately followed with "but I'm not going to buy it just to find out" so I guess I'm getting better?

just got called and he started with "hey its me". Umm, obviously?

I keep thinking that I should run long cables to my amp so I can make it into a heated foot rest, but also how bad of an idea that is for so many reasons. But toasty feet sure would be nice.

We have an online system to enter vacation, but for unclear reasons we still have to fill out paper forms, and the person i give them to loses them. This is definitely peak efficient filling out a redundant form for the second time.

had this dream last night that I was in some parking lot and everyone was in full on cannot drive mode. Cars running into one another, crooked parking, hitting poles, etc. I guess thats my sign to avoid parking lots today.

The guy they got to replace Superman on The Witcher doesn't grunt nearly as well as Henry Cavill. OTOH we got Morpheus, so not a total loss.

People that are adamant about the brand of parts they will not use but won't say why are weird. I'm not asking to be judgey, I want to know if there are issues I should know about so I buy something else. Its a capacitor, not a religion.

trying to explain to people that the work and finance landscape of today isn't the same as it was 30+ years ago is way more difficult than it should be.

something seems to have failed on the pellet stove. Its not running the rake thing that clears ash out of the pot. I can hear the motor hum, not sure if its seized, or the gearbox fragged or what.

Why is getting a measurement from someone so difficult? Ask for a voltage, get "87% of a different voltage" but no actual values. These people must be using grindr measurement methods

Robert Patrick does a great job at playing an asshole, but I sort of wonder if he's acting.

shame its not possible to bottle the smell of an old tube amp to use as an air freshener. Pretty sure its something in the varnish they dipped the transformers in, new ones just don't have the same scent. Its probably cancer in aerosol form tho.

Ah shit, I forgot they were doing silent movies with a theater organist accompaniment tonight, got so tied up listening to my new amp that I have just been sitting here all night

I bought something i don't have to work on, and I'm not sure how to feel about it. Behold, the mighty Bogen DS265

I think they should have gone with a rosebud. IYKYK.

I really don't understand why people refuse to learn how to troubleshoot problems and will jump straight to major modifications that they don't understand. You won't follow simple test instructions, you really think you can re-design a brake hydraulic system?
November 22, 2025 at 3:10 PM
guys at work were supposed to paint something and "accidentally" locked the room the paint is stored in. If not for the fact that now I have to go in and unlock it I'd be impressed.

Listening to corporate people talk about things is annoying. They all talk too much and try to use big impressive words, but its kind of obvious if you actually know the material that these people are full of shit.
November 21, 2025 at 4:40 PM
I really wish I had the energy that people who spend all day online looking for things to infuriate themselves have. That is just a level of dedication that I cannot muster.

Thought I was going to get through rebuilding that preamp but just not in the head space for it. Electrically it should be done, but I just don't have it in me to sit there and take a shitload of voltage readings to make sure everything is 100%.

I have been sitting here for an hour watching two guys try to install a door knob. I have been fighting the urge to tell them to get out of my way so I could install it and go to lunch.
