The hacker group Everest, which has ties to Russia, has claimed responsibility for the attack. According to Svenska kraftnät, the hackers downloaded 289 gigabytes of data from a server on an external platform that the authority uses to share information with selected players in the power industry.

The anomalous data streams are also apparent in the plots from Marinetraffic. Station streams to both MT and Vesselfinder.

Thanks for the update ! I did miss this mention of Yantar messing around, I shall be more careful next time. Good to know she's still North Sea, almost time to get the RIB out 😂

Apologies for the questions, I'm trying to keep track of some vessels to try a correlation script I'm developing and running the correct-ish dates and right places helps 😅

And her AIS flashed in the Gulf of Finland a few days ago ? So she left Olenya on 25th, then crossed the Straits of Denmark, then flashed her AIS whilst en route East to St Petersburg / Baltyisk / Kronshtadt ? Or was she already in the Baltic area and I missed her departure from Olenya ?

The theory at the time was that the ship was actually transporting SAM systems to Syria. I am unsure if there's a translation available but this FR podcast is a good summary: www.radiofrance.fr/franceinter/...

That ship got hijacked twice actually. First in the Gulf of Finland, armed blokes boarded it, searched it, and then left off. Then same in the Bay of Biscay, however those guys were later arrested . turns out at least one of them was a security guard.
