I don't wade into these issues much, but given the Sullivan review has been getting a lot of attention, I'll say this. I regard Alice Sullivan as an excellent social scientist, who has for years campaigned for one simple objective: clear recording of biological sex separately from gender ID.

A while ago I ran a series of daily tweets about birdsong. The idea was to encourage people to pay attention to the natural sounds around them, and learn to identify birds from their sounds alone (which, after all, is often the only clue you get to their presence).
