My 1st computer was the IBM 704. I began my career in the Satellite Tracking Program back in 1960.

Messier 96 (also known as M96 or NGC 3368) is an intermediate spiral galaxy about 31 million light-years away.

Far out
Another night sky wonder my Dwarf captured last week!

Bode's Galaxy with its neighbour, the Cigar Galaxy. M81 & M82 are 12 million light years away and can be seen in the Great Bear constellation (not that they're part of it).

Are any of us on planet earth important at all?
We’re seeing double: two interacting galaxies imaged by #Hubble and #NASAWebb. Hubble shows obscuring brown dust and blue star-filled regions, while Webb shows glowing cold dust as white material and pink stars still embedded in dust: https://bit.ly/3F72M4a 🔭 🧪

So humbling.
Stunning view of UGC 12591, a massive S0/Sa galaxy about 400 million light-years away in the Pisces–Perseus Supercluster.

Containing several hundred billion solar masses—(~4x that of the Milky Way) it rotates at an astonishing 1.8 million km/h!

Wish we could understand where we are, & all that’s out there. …
This is very pretty!

Pinwheel Galaxy (M101) captured by my tiny DWARF 3 SS overnight here in mixed clouds in Bortle 8 South London. After last evening's mega storms remarkable to get 2.5 hours of clear sky!

To celebrate its 3rd Anniversary, the JWST released this stunning image of the Cat's Paw Nebula (NGC 6334), a massive star-forming region located about 4,000 ly away in Scorpius.

And how infinitesimally tiny we are, and trapped, in another of the uncountable number of galaxies.
A short moon-filled night, but still able to pursue my fascination with car-crash galaxies: here is NGC 5394/5395. Such spectacular collisions are rare in a galaxy’s life, which is why the examples we can see tend to be quite distant: this pair are 180 million light years away. 🔭🧪

And how insignificant we, & planet Earth, are …
Exploring a new neighborhood can be exciting. 🏠 🏡

After its commissioning, #NASAWebb looked at one of our neighbors: dwarf galaxy WLM. This portion of the galaxy, which shows many faint stars, demonstrates Webb’s ability to study stellar populations: bit.ly/3XUcn4y 🔭 🧪

HARVARD WON THIS ROUND!

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon wrote a letter to Harvard. The university responded by marking up the letter for spelling and punctuation mistakes- and then shared it on social media.

Yes. I understand. Hoping to get through today — out in the sunshine.
As with most things made with sugar, like chocolate cake for example, I believe once you cut or bite into them all the millions of calories fall out and disperse into the air. (Work with me here, Eileen - -this is what gets me through the day!🤣🤣🤣😉)
