When Blizzard launched the new battle net service, they wanted to make their forums require displaying your real name. The community was rightfully angry and Blizzard backpedaled quickly. Discord should follow suit and not give ID data to Palantir

I concede that AI coding won't necessarily make things worse universally because enterprise organizations already make applications measurably worse than AI does today

how does zscaler get away with being as unstable as it is. I swear it's like every other day the TLS MITM casually breaks certificate verification on everything

The idea that everybody on the planet must forever be beholden to the default of babysitter of other people’s children except for their actual fucking parents, and as a result any attempt to opt of non-consensual babysitting must include getting my identity stolen, is an idea that must fucking die.

Why is Discord asking for the real names and mailing addresses of random 13-17 year olds for a "Discord Teen Council" in a Google Form.
February 9, 2026 at 6:50 PM
important reality for people to consider: discord is basically the only app (except enterprise Zoom, other voip solutions, etc) that was doing hosted video relays for video calls

video is *VERY EXPENSIVE*

everything else about discord is replaceable except that right now

I reached a point in Endfield where the game challenges you to prepare for a boss fight using every progression system you've been taught up to that point and it obliterated me for ignoring the warnings. genuinely surprised
