Glad they’ve seen sense, but I hope not too many people have already paid for the boxset in order to get Anthology 4.

New Beatles info!

Why Don’t we do it in the Road?, which was recorded on 9 October 1968, also makes a brief appearance on another White Album song recorded more than four months earlier.

Have a listen to this isolated backing track from 20/31 May 1968:

Fascinating 1972 letters from John to Paul, proposing a joint performance with The Rolling Stones at the One to One gigs. And, perhaps, a show in Ireland.

They’d previously met up on 29th Jan ‘72 (the day before Bloody Sunday)

Definitely the most interesting side of Anthology 4.

As predicted, much of the rest has already been issued on the super delux boxes etc.

Having recently spent a fortune on the mono box (and already owning cd/vinyl versions of Anthology 1-3) you know what, I’m happy to just stream this time.

In September 1980 EMI asked Roger Scott to record promos for the reissues of The Beatles’ Rock’n’Roll Music volumes 1 & 2.

Perhaps unwisely, EMI also arranged for these to be produced by Kenny Everett

OTD From the 15 July 1967 edition of Disc and Music Echo.

All You Need is Love is rush released - according to Dick James, partly due to “unscrupulous people” taping it - and it enters the chart at number 6.

And talking of charts… look at that chart!

On this day: Melody Maker 9 July 1966.

John and Ringo answer 10 questions to the MM - a month prior to the release of Revolver and The Beatles commencing their final US tour.

(Of particular note - their response to questions 3 and 7!)

Tip for the day - if you have an idea, however ridiculous it seems, mull it over with someone you trust and sometimes it suddenly makes sense.
