Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

There's always an XKCD

xkcd.com/1053/
when someone hasn't heard, or heard of music you like, your reaction should be "this is a fantastic day for you, this is the day you get to hear this for the first time." the first time hearing new music you love is the best part of listening to music. how lucky you are to share this with someone

Bad News: I dropped my 12 year old kindle one too many times and it broke.

Good News: the physical TBR pile had this thing of beauty waiting to be picked up:

I was confused by @sexomarxist.bsky.social argument until he posted this image. Now I understand he is just an idiot who doesn't understand that he is a fascist. It doesn't seem to be a conscious choice, it's seems to be the result of him being mentally retarded, like so stupid he likes trump.

@rubycentral.org any explanation for the hostile takeover of ruby-gems? As a ruby dev this makes me fear for the ecosystem around Ruby. You seem to be alienating a lot of the devs with this behaviour. I would like to hear you reasons because at present this appears to be a hostile manoeuvre

It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI.

ESSAY: A bad parade is a good sign
I am a veteran. I learned how to march, stand at attention, salute, and how to recognize and address superiors. But serving was never about pomp and circumstance. Serving was about duty, readiness, and a devotion to the image of the military. Not parades.
ESSAY: A bad parade is a good sign
A society can either invent things like jazz and kimchi tacos or stage awe-inspiring lockstep parades. It cannot do both

I see some discourse about ditching the former Twitter, and so I'll remind folks that the best reason to there is that it's a fucking Nazi bar and we all deserve better. I'm on social media to enjoy conversation with cool folks. Bluesky does a bang-up job of that. The former Twitter doesn't.
