The boy cat had an illness last month. (He’s fine now.) I had to medicate him every morning, after which I’d give him crunchy treats as a reward for good behavior. Which meant I also had to give them to the girls, to avoid violence. Now I wake up to being screamed at in surround sound. Forever.

Looking at nature is good for you, and couldn’t we all use a moment of natural beauty?

So he’s just casually dropping antisemitic slurs now? Because you only learn that name from The Merchant of Venice or fuckin Nazis, and I don’t think he’s read Shakespeare…

Good morning. I feel especially elderly today. My back hurts and I’m mad at the government.

Just Mardi Gras things. Dinosaurs hanging out at the after parade block party, like you do.

Today’s urge to clean something out was my email. “Elon Musk” wants to sell me a portable heater. My iCloud account, PayPal account, and the Trustmark bank account I don’t even have are all “about to be canceled.” Amazon found 875 things I might like. And this is why email is now completely useless.

Woke up today with the urge to deep clean the bathroom. Weird, but I’ll take it. Took out the trash, started to sweep the floor, the head fell off the broom immediately. Feels like a metaphor for something.

Finally got a good up close look at the hyena baby.

I miss going weeks at a time without thinking about the president. I could forget Joe Biden existed sometimes. It was nice.

Sped up a bit to fit on #skylight as it is now, but hey, here’s some art made of yarn.

Tumblr, the goblin cave to which I return every time another social media app collapses, really has the opportunity to do the funniest possible thing. They won’t, but still.

Technology is often very cool, but some things should not be “smart.” I do not want my front door lock or any of my household appliances to have an internet connection.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

The best any of us can hope for, I think, is to leave this world just a little better than we found it. Jimmy Carter did, and we are blessed to have had him.

Eldest Cat has decided to join me in sitting on my heated bed while I watch TV. She’s warm, she’s comfy, she has engaged Immovable Rock Mode, and I’m left pondering how an 8 pound cat can manage to take up all the space on a queen size mattress.

A non-LOTR character who could resist the One Ring? First, Sauron would find himself craving a nice cup of tea, and by the end, he’d throw the ring in the fire himself and apologize to her.

I found a $100 gift card in my wallet I forgot I had. Obviously, I must use this on something frivolous that I do not need.

Listened to a @depreshmode.bsky.social ep last night about how basically everybody has some degree of lead poisoning, but GenX might as well be called Generation Lead. Cool cool cool. We’re all just walking around with lead in our bones and brains. Thanks for that, world.

My thoughts on Kings of Tupelo, if anyone is interested: Kevin had good intentions, but bless his heart, he’s not very bright.

I bought myself an early Christmas-birthday present. A heated mattress pad. Pro: my bed is cozy warm and even my toes are not cold at night. Con: entire bed is now a cat magnet. At least this justifies the handheld pet fur vacuum I bought last year. Otherwise I’d have a fur blanket.

I’m not a Spotify user, so I don’t get all those fun details, but I do get a most played of the year playlist. Last week, I would have told you I didn’t really have a favorite band. I might be wrong.
